You can become a member by filling in the online membership form, which you can find here.
A membership costs €50,- per year, which makes us one of the cheapest student associations in Groningen. This means that most activities cost a few euros, and you also have to pay a separate fee if you join a trip.
If necessary, you are able to pay the fee in instalments. Just contact the Treasurer of the board to make an arrangement. Send an email to: treasurer@aegee-groningen.nl
Good question! AEGEE-Groningen has a weekly social drink every Wednesday night at café De Brouwerij, from 22.00 until 01.00. This is nothing more than a weekly get-together at our local café. It is completely free and open to join the social drinks, so you (and your friends) are always welcome! This is the moment for members to catch up with each other. Most committees and members meet up on Wednesday evening for dinner and then come to the social together. We even have a sweet deal with De Brouwerij with which we get a great discount on drinks!
No! Everybody can join the activities, both local and European. You don't have to be a member of a committee or team for this.
The office is located at the Oude Kijk in ‘t Jatstraat 9. The board is there the whole week to work, have meetings, and meet up with you! Want to pay a visit? You are always free to come by between 13:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Thursday!
No! AEGEE wants everybody to feel comfortable. We are an open and inviting association, and hope everybody feels welcome. So no, there is no hazing period whatsoever.
There are no expectations or obligations of our members. In AEGEE you can do whatever you like, whenever you like it. No time for a committee just yet? No worries. Only want to join our social drinks? Fun, we’ll see you there!
No, students from all nationalities are welcome at AEGEE!
Since we have so many international members, the working language of our association is English. However, don’t worry if you don’t feel confident enough in your English yet! There’s always someone who knows Dutch and who can help out if needed. AEGEE is actually one of the best places to learn and practise your English.
Yes, we have several FR deals with companies. This means you can get a discount there if you tell them you are a member of AEGEE! You can find the discounts here.
Yes, you can sign up for AEGEE at any moment! There is no pressure to sign up in the KEI-Week. Feel free to join our Introduction Period to see if AEGEE-Groningen is the right fit for you!
First of all, AEGEE-Groningen is a great addition to your student life. You will meet a lot of other students and get to enjoy many fun activities in Groningen. Each year we organise six trips, we offer you the chance to explore Europe on a budget. By joining a committee or team (and maybe even the board!) you get to develop your personal and professional skills in a fun environment. Another unique benefit of joining AEGEE is that you are able to go to events of other AEGEE locals located in all the big European cities. But most importantly, AEGEE is about making friends for life!

You can sign up for activities through a google form. Each activity has its own form. You can find these in the internal communication groups of AEGEE.
During the Introduction Periods in September and February you can join activities without being a member, to get to know the association without obligations! The activities during some of our thematic weeks are also open to everybody. More information about the activities in these periods can be found on the designated pages. Other activities and the trips organised are only available for members of AEGEE-Groningen.
Some of our activities are free, but most will cost a few euros. You also have to pay a separate fee for all trips (excursions or hitchhikes) you sign up for.
The schedule for our activities varies. To stay updated on upcoming events, please check the agenda [link] on our website or follow our social media channels. All updates about activities are posted in the internal WhatsApp Group. During the Introduction Period you can become a part of a separate WhatsApp Group where you will be informed about all Intro activities. Definitely follow our Instagram page as well, to find out what we have been up to!
Every week there is at least one activity next to our weekly social drink. Some weeks there might be more, depending on upcoming trips and bigger events. During our thematic weeks there is an activity almost every day.
Most of our activities are about cultural exchange! However, we also organise interesting workshops from time to time. We aim to organise diverse activities so everyone can enjoy them!
There are several ways you can become involved within AEGEE-Groningen - from committees, to more elaborate teams and societies. In any case the best way to start is by contacting one of the board members. They will invite you for a short, informal conversation to get to know you.
If you want to join an advisory body you can also contact the advisory body directly. If you want to be part of an advisory body, you will need to stand for election during the GMA.

The AEGEE-Europe Network currently consists of 11.000 AEGEEans, present in 130 cities in 40 countries all over Europe!
AEGEE-Europe is the network of all AEGEE locals. It is the European umbrella association we are part of, and it brings together thousands of European students!
Our recent excursions and hitchhike competitions where we were joined by the local AEGEEans were Alicante, Cologne, Copenhagen, Berlin, Brussels, and many more! European Events have taken place all over Europe these past few years, in locations such as Enschede, Novi Sad, and Salerno.
No. You don’t need to be active within AEGEE-Europe when you are a member of AEGEE-Groningen. You can even go to the European Events without being an active member.
Only a lot of fun!! AEGEE-Europe is a very loving and open-minded community and all European events are filled with great people. You will meet the best people and get to know a lot of new friends! Besides, European events can be very interesting, as you can actually make an impact on the future of AEGEE at statutory events such as the Agorae and EPMs. You can find a more detailed explanation of all European events here.
It is actually very easy. At my.aegee.eu you can find an overview of all events. There you can apply for the event you want to join. The application consists of several questions, but nothing else. You will then hopefully get selected to participate!
A Summer University is a two week holiday with friends from all over Europe! It is a lot of fun and you will explore a beautiful location, plus you get to meet a lot of amazing people. You can sign up for a SU at my.aegee.eu.
A My-AEGEE account is the account you need to sign up for European Events. You can request this account at my.aegee.eu. It usually takes a few days for it to get accepted. From then on you can use this account to sign up for all European Events!
